The 2014 summer season for the Cockpit in Court Theatre began with the classic musical Peter Pan on June 29, 2014.

Cockpit in Court Theatre has made many productions over the last forty two years. This summer they are performing not only Peter Pan but also The Odd Couple, Legally Blonde, Annie, and The Tail of the Allergist’s Wife. Bel Air High School student Brett Klock stars in Peter Pan as John Darling.

Peter Pan the musical is about a mischievous boy named Peter Pan who can fly and never grows up and spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the small island of Neverland. As the leader of his gang, the Lost Boys, interacting with Native Americans, fairies, pirates, and takes three children, Wendy, John, and Michael Darling from outside of Neverland on an adventure.

“My favorite part was working with new people and making great connections and really flying!” said Brett Klock about his Peter Pan experience.

The biggest part of the performance for the actors was using flying cables. Klock and his other cast members got the chance to really feel like they were flying in numerous scenes during the show. Safety was the first priority while using the cables.

Jessica Preactor, the actress that played Peter Pan, commented on why she was chosen for the role when Peter was a boy, “most people don’t know this but in the original production of Peter Pan, Peter was always played by a female actor”.

The cast and crew for Peter Pan put on an amazing show. If you want to be a part of the Cockpit in Court next production go to www.ccbcmd.edu/cockpit for any upcoming shows.
