Biomed Seniors Showcase Their Final Projects

On Wed., May 28 at 5:30 p.m., Bel Air High School held a reception, project walk through, and award ceremony for the graduating seniors of the Biomedical Sciences Program to congratulate their accomplishments and allow them to showcase their biomedical science projects they completed during their high school career.

At 5:30 p.m. in the Media Center, a reception for the 57 seniors and their parents was held. Snacks and drinks were provided before the walk through and ceremony.

The senior walk-through was held in the cafeteria from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The seniors presented their projects to parents, members of the board of education, teachers and their fellow classmates. Guests were able to ask the students questions, and discuss the projects they had completed. The guests and students were then moved to the auditorium.

A 20 minute movie was played as guests entered the auditorium, consisting of pictures and videos of the students working over the course of their 4 years in the Biomedical Sciences Program. All of the students were awarded with an honor stole, and a Biomedical Sciences Program certificate of completion. Jillian Becker was presented with the Biomedical Science 2014 Senior Award.

The Assistant State Superintendent, Katharine Oliver, spoke as a special guest to the graduating class, along with their biomed teachers.

“It’s nice to see them grow up from the time we first met them in 8th grade”, says Mrs. Harris, BAHS assistant principle, “It’s a really great time for us to celebrate the seniors’ amazing accomplishments.”

The Biomedical Science Senior Walk-Through has been in place for 7 years, this being the 4th graduating class to take part in it. The seniors of the 2014 Biomedical Sciences Program are sure to achieve great things in their future, and Bel Air High School is proud to have a part in that.
