Harford County Greek Festival Changes Location

On June 13, 14, and 15, 2014, Sts. Mary Magdalene and Markella Greek Orthodox Church had a very successful Greek Festival at The John Carroll School.

The Greek Festival of Harford County offers Greek food, Greek desserts, and vendors of all types as well as Greek music and dancing. The one difference that made it a smashing success this year was that it took place in Bel Air from its previous location in Darlington, Maryland for the past seven years.

The Festival took place at The John Carroll School and because of its convenience to the many residents of Bel Air and it was very well attended.

Lee Caprinolo, a resident of Forest Hill, has attended the Festival for the past seven years as a volunteer.  “I could not believe the crowds this year,” said Caprinolo.  “Since the festival took place indoors this year, they came to eat, drink and dance rain or shine,” he added.

Sts. Mary Magdalene and Markella Greek Orthodox Church has always had great turn outs at their festival but this year did not even compare, lines for food were out the door.

George Kanaras, owner of Box Hill Pizzeria, stated “We help out as much as we can, by making the salad dressing and the spinach pies. It was great to see how successful this year was.”

Because of the great success, Pastor of the Church, Fr. Manuel Burdusi, said that they are planning to have the Festival again here at John Carroll next year. On June 6, 7, and 8, 2015.
