The Class of 2018 Takes Their First Steps at BAHS

On Fri., August 22 the newest Bel Air Bobcats took their first steps as freshman in Bel Air High School on Freshman Orientation Day.

The orientation began in the gymnasium where the freshman received their class schedules. Mr. Sterns, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. McDonough, and Officer Krause then spoke to the incoming freshman about their upcoming years at BAHS.

SGA President, Matt Robertson, encouraged the class of 2018 to “become a heart of the Bobcat community. Go to any sporting event, musical or anything you can to support your fellow bobcats.”

Then, off they went! The students scrambled to find their classes and lockers. There were cheerleaders and other BAHS students in the hallways to help the incoming freshman with opening lockers and directing the students and parents to classes.

Outside of the gymnasium, Bobcat gear, physical education uniforms and game passes were sold. School club displays were also set up in the hallway by the cafeteria allowing students to look at all the clubs, and encouraging the freshman to join as many as possible.

“I am really excited because high school is going to be really fun!” said freshman, Bryce Robertson.

Every student at BAHS remembers their first day, and how nerve racking it was. BAHS is a big school full of friendly people willing to help, so anyone who may be lost can ask any other student or teacher for help at any time in the school year.

Freshman, Drew McNally said, “I can’t wait to be a Bobcat, go to football games, and homecoming!”

Bel Air High School gives a warm welcome to the class of 2018! Have a great year Bobcats! If you have any questions about joining clubs, visit Mrs. McDonough in room B207.
