Boys’ Lacrosse Cages Cougars

The Bel Air Boys’ Lacrosse Team took on the Fallston Cougars on Fri., April 4, 2014, at Bel Air High School. This game was originally scheduled to be played at Fallston High School but, due to poor field conditions, was moved to Bobcat Stadium. This game meant a lot to the Bobcats, after suffering a tough loss earlier in the week to Archbishop Spalding 9-8. Former Bobcat Lacrosse Coach Scoop Kelly was honored before the game, making the game especially important to Bobcat Nation.
The Bobcats got off to a quick start in the game as Junior Brad Casale scored within the first two minutes. Senior Calvin Fleagle then scored to put the Bobcats up 2-0 with 5:59 to go in the first quarter. The Bobcats led 2-0 entering the second quarter.
Calvin Fleagle scored again with 10:15 left in the second quarter to put the Bobcats up 3-0. The Cougars were able to net a goal of their own, scoring with 37.9 seconds left in the second quarter to make the score 3-1.
The Bobcats stayed aggressive offensively as Calvin Fleagle scored his third goal to push the score to 4-1. Junior Thomas Pfeiffer scored a goal to make the score 5-1 with 2:31 to go in the third quarter.
The Cougars were able to score and cut the Bobcats lead to 3, but couldn’t stop Calvin Fleagle from scoring once again, making the score 6-2. The Bobcats scored again with a goal from Brad Casale with 4:24 left in the fourth, pushing the lead to 7-2. The Cougars were able to score two more goals, but came up short by a final score of 7-4 in favor of the Bobcats.
The Bobcat offense was led by Calvin Fleagle who had 4 goals and Captain Joey Creaghan’s who had 3 assists on the night. Junior Goalie Gavin Hanley played a great game, tallying a total of 13 saves.
This will be the last time the Bobcat Seniors will get to play Fallston; they felt great after the big win. “Knowing this was the last time us seniors will ever play Fallston and coming out with a win is a feeling like no other. All the boys played great and it was a great experience to be a part of,” said Calvin Fleagle.
Joey Creaghan’s comment perfectly summed up the win. “The feeling is incomparable after the win tonight against our rival. Scoop would be extremely proud.”
