On May 12, 2014, the Bel Air Boys’ Lacrosse Team took on the Dulaney Lions in the 4A/3A Sectional Finals at Bel Air High School. The Bobcats were coming off a 19-0 victory over Perry Hall while the Lions were coming off an overtime victory against Franklin.
The Bobcats didn’t get off to a good start; the Lions’ scored first with 8:10 to go in the first quarter. However, the Bobcats were able to keep the Lions’ scoreless throughout the rest of the first quarter.
The Lions scored right away with 11:04 in the second quarter pushing the Lions’ lead to 2. The Lions’ pushed the lead to 3 as they scored with 9:09 left before the half. The Lions continued to put the pressure on the ‘Cats as they scored with 5:12 to go stretching the lead to 4. The score remained 4-0 until halftime.
The Lions quickly added to their lead as they scored with 9:59 to go in the third, making the score 5-0. Dulaney was able to net one more shot in the third pushing the lead to 6-0. The Bobcats were finally able to show some life as Junior Tom Pfeiffer scored with 1:41 to go in the third, making the score 6-1. Pfeiffer was able to score another goal with a minute left in the third, bringing the Bobcats within 4.
The Bobcats trailed 6-2 going into the fourth quarter. Pfeiffer scored again to bring the Bobcats within 3 with 11:11 to go in the game. Not long after, Junior Brad Casale was able to score with 8:28 to go making the score 6-4. The Bobcats let up another goal to the Lions scored with 7:23 left in the game, making the score 7-4. Junior Garrett Utz scored the next goal for the Bobcats with 7:04 to go in the game. Pfeiffer scored the final goal of the season for the Bobcats making the score 7-6 with 5:19 to go in the game.
Unfortunately, the Bobcats comeback bid fell short, as they lost by a score of 7-6, ending the season for Boys’ Lacrosse.
