Naumann Sisters Take Harford County by Storm

On April 28, 2014, the Bel Air Varsity Tennis team began their Chesapeake Division Tournament, taking on all the schools in Harford County. The only remaining Bobcats in this tournament were Holly and Paige Naumann as the number one seed in girls’ doubles, and Karlie Scherba as the third seed in girls’ singles.

As the Tournament continued, the Naumann sisters were able to advance to the regionals. These girls’ incredible chemistry and teamwork helped demonstrate their dominance all throughout the year. “Since Paige and I have been playing together since we were little, it’s been very easy to adjust to playing doubles with her. We know each other’s moves during points without having to communicate, which is something that sets us apart from other doubles teams. Paige and I are also good at picking each other up when we are struggling mentally which helps us to secure the win,” explained the older half of the sister act, Senior Holly.

For Sophmore Paige, the youngest in the girls’ doubles, the heights she can reach in her last 2 years playing on the court for Bel Air are almost without bounds. “Being with my sister is very exciting, I love playing with her and she is an outstanding teammate. We play very well together and have a connection like no one else. It is a bit intimidating  as we play mostly Juniors and Seniors but having Holly as a partner to calm me down is an outstanding advantage.”

Leading up to States, after playing exceptionally well in regionals, the girls will hopefully earn a higher seed in their path to a State Title.
