What It Takes to Try Out for Field Hockey

On Aug. 13, 2014 through Aug. 15, 2014 Bel Air High School will hold their field hockey tryouts on the turf field for anyone interested in trying out for the junior varsity or varsity team

The girls condition and prepare for the team by running one to two miles every other day along with wind sprints for twenty minutes. They also practice stick skills such as dribbles, fakes, dodges, and passes.

Many girls will also do a year round club team or summer league. This helps keeps them in shape and ready to play for the high school team.

Sophmore, Karsyn Shek said “I’m super excited for this season! I am a bit sad because I cannot do a summer camp because I have club lacrosse but I will find extra time to practice my skills.”

Being on the field hockey team requires a lot commitment. Including being on time, not skipping practices or leaving early for any unexcused reason and be prepared every day.

“When you commit to a team sport, it requires you to make sacrifices in order for everyone to have a positive and successful season,” said JV Coach, Mrs. Zorbach.

The field hockey team tryouts are taken very seriously and you are required to give all effort and being prepared.
