After last year’s state semi-final appearance, the girls’ soccer team returns to the field with high hopes. Last year the Lady Bobcats lost 1-0 in the state semi-finals to Huntingtown High School. “We strive to set our goals higher than the previous year and last year we did pretty well. With all the new faces I’m looking forward to this year,” says Coach Josh Clemmer, the head coach of the varsity team for the past eight years.

“It’s sad to lose so many girls from last year’s team, but we have a lot of new girls, all with great work ethic. We are building our team chemistry and I believe we have the potential to make it further than last year with enough hard work,” says senior captain Shannon Williams, a four year varsity player. Also returning to the team this year is senior captain Kayla Klock, the ‘Cats leading goal scorer from last year.

The Lady ‘Cats start their season off on the road against Northeast on Aug. 9, followed by the annual Bobcat Tournament on Saturday Sept. 13.  With the beginning of a new season, and new faces on the team, the girls look forward to the road leading to states and hope to make it past the semi-finals this year.
