Senior Year From a Sophomore’s Perspective

Senior year is highly anticipated by underclassmen, but seniors may have a different feeling of finally being in their last year of high school. Seniors may have fun things to look forward to like prom and the senior class trip, but they also have more responsibilities.

As sophomores, we see more of the fun things. When you’re a senior, you finally have more freedom. We see the seniors enjoying their last year and it makes us really excited to engage in more adult activities.

“Senior year in my perspective is all about having fun and partying. Going to senior week is gonna be crazy. I don’t care about the school work,” says sophomore, Arzoo Shish.

At a younger age and still having two more years left of high school, some kids don’t realize the responsibilities waiting for them after senior year; like having a job, paying bills, etc.

Senior year is full of a lot of exciting things for everyone. No matter what grade you are in, you have the satisfaction of all of your hard work paying off. You will get the sense of relief after earning your diploma. Being able to finally let loose and enjoy it all by participating in things like senior week, prom, spirit week, and all the other things the school does to celebrate the senior’s hard work.

“I can’t wait to finally be done with high school. Knowing I did everything to pass all my classes and getting all my credits will be such an amazing feeling,” says sophomore Amanda Zuccaro.

Sophomores may also have the feeling that they still have two more years. One being what is said to be the most rigorous year, junior year. Being a sophomore can feel like you still have a long way to go until graduation.

“These next two years are going to drag. Junior year is supposed to be the hardest year. I had to sign up to take many challenging classes to help create a better college application. I am signed up to take multiple AP classes, and I am not looking forward to completing all the work,” says sophomore, Alex Folmer.

As a sophomore, some students may actually even be worrying about what college they will possibly be applying and attending. Although not all students are worried about what will happen in the future. Some are just a little more laid back and going with the flow of things.

On the other hand, other students are strategically picking their courses and working very hard to get into a good college. They have been joining many extra-curricular activities and keeping their GPA up in order to graduate high school, have a good college application, and enjoy senior year.

There is a wide variety of students in Bel Air High School with many opinions and mind sets, but I think all students can’t wait to finally walk across the stage and graduate, and of course with all the fun things along the way.
