Starting Over: A Look Into Leaving for College

Although this is an exciting time for high school students, with the school year just weeks away and fall sports beginning, it is also a time of nerves for students going off to college.

College is a very nice time in a young person’s life to discover who they are and what they want to do with their life. However, this is also a hectic and intimidating point with packing, leaving home and essentially starting their life over.

Graduating always seems like such a great time, but it is also very challenging afterward when you leave friends and the home you have always known. The time after a person’s high school career is often spent finding themselves and learning more about what they want for the future.

According to Kody Randlett, former Bel Air High School student attending college this fall, “I definitely think it will be strange not really knowing a lot of people, but I also think college will be a great time to plan for my future and know what direction I want to go with my life.”

College brings a different aspect of learning to college students. Whereas in high school there is a difference in people’s learning ability’s and interests, college has more of them same learning levels and worth ethics along with similar interests.

“It was sad saying goodbye to my friends and family, but I am excited to go to college and have lots of things in common with the other students,” Randlett said.

The latter part of August brings both and anxiety and excitement for all students, especially college students learning how to be their own person.
